The History of The Amelia Payson House

Built in 1845 by Edward Payson for his wife Amelia.

HISTORY

Edward H. Payson was born in Roxbury on December 5, 1803. He came to Salem as a boy and began his business career at Mr. Fenno’s brokerage office. At the age of 23 he accepted a position in the Commercial bank where he was a cashier. Mr. Payson was married on Sept. 29, 1829 to Amelia Mellus of Dorcester. In 1845 they built their home at 16 Winter Street, Salem, MA, now known as the Amelia-Payson House.

November through December $350 +tx

All rates are based on double occupancy.

There is a $40 fee for third person in the room.
